Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights condemned the terrorist attack on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on January 7, 2015.  In the wake of the death of twelve of the magazines journalists, the Center urged against other journalist submitting to violent intimidation through self-censorship as some commentators have suggested. Instead they encouraged the UN Human Rights Council to draft a declaration on the importance of freedom of expression and the protection of journalists.
