The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) has requested a subpoena for Martin Ssempa in a federal lawsuit between the Ugandan LGBTI rights group Sexual Minorities Uganda and the U.S.-based anti-gay vocalist Scott Lively.  Mr. Ssempa, a U.S. citizen, is a prominent anti-gay crusader in Uganda and a close friend of Mr. Lively.  Due to his U.S. citizenship, CCR is arguing that Mr. Ssempa is subject to the U.S. court’s jurisdiction and should therefore be forced to testify since he has personal knowledge about key points of the case.
