Human Rights Watch reports that the Ukrainian parliament voted last week to ban LGBT discrimination in the workplace. According to a 2014 study, in Ukraine, more than a third of all lesbian, gay, and bisexual respondents had “received lower wages, had been denied employment,” or had been harassed at work. Nearly two thirds of the transgendered respondents said they had been discriminated against as well. The passage of this law is likely related to Ukraine hoping to qualify for visa-free travel in the European Union by complying with their human rights principles.
