The Human Rights Brief and its website,, are a student-run publication and online resource of the American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (Center). With a staff of nearly fifty students, the Brief reports on developments in international human rights and humanitarian law, with pieces by practitioners, academics, law students and international legal scholars. The Brief was founded in 1994, and has a broad domestic and international audience, with approximately 4,000 print subscribers in 130 countries, and thousands of unique visitors to the website each month. The Brief provides continuous up-to-date content on cutting-edge legal issues from both students and practitioners.
