Claudia is an experienced public interest lawyer who is pursuing dual LLMs in International Human Rights & Humanitarian Law and Advocacy, specializing in Criminal Trial Advocacy at American University Washington College of Law (WCL). Before returning to law school, she founded and operated her own law firm for three years, primarily focusing on criminal defense. While pursuing her LLMs, Claudia has had the opportunity to be a Graduate Fellow at the Human Rights Law Division of the Department of Homeland Security, Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights, and the Gender Jurisprudence Project, a collaborative project between the War Crimes Research Office and the Women in Law Program at WCL War Crimes Research Office as well as serving as a Dean’s Fellow to the Honorable Juan E. Mendez, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. Her interests include the intersection between international criminal law, international humanitarian law and US national security law.
