At the age of twelve, Jazmin Chavez came to the United States from Peru. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where she received her B.A. in Political Science in 2012. At American University Washington College of Law, Jazmin’s particular interests are immigration and human rights law. She is a dean’s fellow for the International Human Rights Law Clinic. Last summer, she worked for the American Bar Association Commission on Immigration and had the opportunity to interact directly with immigrants detained in jails and prisons throughout the United States. Jazmin was a Staff Writer from 2015-2016.

Janie was on the junior staff as a member of the Social Media Team as well as the Community Outreach Co-Chair. She worked with the Human Rights Brief from 2014-2016.
Former Senior Column Editor
Prior to coming to law school, Mike ran heavy construction equipment for three years in and around the city of Detroit as a member of the Operating Engineers, Local 324. Before that, Mike was a student at James Madison University where he graduated in May of 2011. In addition to his favorite organization at WCL, Human Rights Brief, Mike is a member of AULR and Moot Court. Mike is also Managing Editor of the AU Labor and Employment Law Forum and a Legal Rhetoric Dean’s Fellow. Mike enjoys cooking, fantasy football, and the musical stylings of Young Jeezy. Mike was a Junior Editor and then Senior Column Editor, he was active on the Human Rights Brief from 2014-2016.
