The Regional Updates page contains human rights law updates from eight regions that span the entire globe. The regions are based on recognizable geographical divisions of the world, coupling groupings of similar issues of human rights law into the close proximity areas.
East Asia
The Eastern Asia column includes updates on China, Mongolia, Macau, North and South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan.
Europe
The Europe column includes updates on all European states, including all countries that are west of Russia and the Black Sea.
Latin America
With the exception of the United States, Canada, and Greenland, the Latin America column addresses issues in human rights law from every country in North and South America.
Middle East & North Africa
The Northern African & Middle East column covers human rights law developments in south-western Asia (primarily consisting of countries to the east of and including Afghanistan and Pakistan, to the south of and including Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, and all of the countries on the Arabian Peninsula) and northern Africa (including all of the countries in the north of Africa that border the Mediterranean Sea from Western Sahara to Egypt).
North America
The North America column covers human rights law developments in the United States, Canada, and Greenland.
South & Central Asia
The Brief’s South Asia column is comprised of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Southeast Asia & Oceania
Southeast Asia consists of a mainland section composed of Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Peninsular Malaysia and a maritime section consisting of Brunei, East Malaysia, East Timor, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and Singapore.
Sub-Saharan Africa
The Sub-Saharan Africa column covers human rights law developments in Mauritania, Mali, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan, and all other African countries to their south.
